UIDAI allows the users of Aadhaar cardsto change their address without needing documents. Aadhaar cardholders were allowed to alter their address even if they had not presented the proof of identity.

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily stopped an important feature which lets you change your Aadhaar card's address with no proof of address.

UIDAI lets the users of Aadhaar cards to change their address and address without any documentation. Aadhaar cardholders are able to change their address, as long as they are able to consent to the authentication from the address verification. An address verifier could be a friend, relative, landlord or family member who will allow the Aadhaar card user to use their address to prove their identity.

UIDAI has now stopped this feature. UIDAI was notified by an Aadhaar Card Holder by tweeting that the capability to update address on the Aadhaar Card via an Address Validation letter has been ended. UIDAI has asked its Aadhaar issuer to remind the user that they are able to change their address using a current PoA document.

Dear Residents Dear Resident: The addresses Validation Letter service has been removed until further notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
